Plan Your Maui Spearfishing Adventure!

If you are looking for a holiday with a difference and you love aquatic sports, why not plan a Maui spearfishing trip?

Hawaiians have been freediving and spearfishing for centuries. Spearfishing as a tourist activity is relatively new on Maui. If you’ve never been spearfishing before perhaps now is the time.

If you wish to go on a traditional spearfishing trip on Maui, you will be fishing in the shallows, with just a snorkel and goggles. The fish you will be hunting are the same as those you’d be catching on a bottomfish charter trip, omili, ulua or giant travally, larger snappers, goatfish, unicorn fish and milkfish. Here, however, you will be in the sea, freediving, while learning a traditional aquatic hunting skill. On a typical Maui spearfishing trip you can catch your dinner, while working to protect Maui’s beautiful reefs from invasive fish species like the peacock grouper, blacktail snapper and bluestripe snapper. If you’re new to spearfishing, Maui offers a range of spearfishing tours. You can book these online.

Topshot Spearfishing has a variety of Maui spearfishing tours available:
